The Andover Township
Recreation Committee has a Secretary/Director who is in charge of planning
and overseeing the activities that take place year around for the
residents of the Township. Some of these activities are the annual Easter
Egg Hunt, Senior Luncheon, Music In The Park, Andover Township Day, Holiday Party,
Basketball for Adults, Volleyball for Adults, dances for both teens and adults, family
skate nights, summer recreation programs, annual contests including Miss
Andover Township as well as the Little Miss and Mister Andover Township
contests, bus trips, etc.
Additional duties include handling rentals and use of facilities at
Hillside Park and Hall. The Hall is available for rental from March
through December. Rental inquiries come from "word of mouth" and
we also advertise in the Township newsletters that are sent out twice a
year. The Director is available to show the building to prospective renters during
normal working hours and when she is at the building for other recreation
activities during other hours. The Director handles the paperwork for the rentals as
well as collecting the fees for rental and security deposit. A monthly
calendar of rental dates is prepared and dispersed to the Road
Department, Police Department, and building caretakers so that each one of
them are aware of the use of the building. Also, schedules for use of the
various athletic fields located at the Park are kept in the Recreation
Office in an effort to coordinate game and practice use.
The Secretary/Director also works closely with the Road Department to
monitor the Hillside Park facilities to make sure that all areas are being
maintained in a proper and safe manner.
Secretarial duties include keeping files that contain correspondence sent
and received as well as scheduling monthly meetings where the members meet
to review the correspondence and help plan the activities that the
Committee sponsors. The Secretary takes minutes of each meeting. For each
meeting a packet is prepared and sent to the members containing the
minutes of the previous meeting along with an agenda for the current
meeting.
The Andover Township Recreation Committee meets on the second Tuesday of
each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillside Park.
