Our township is a charming, small town, with a rural atmosphere. It is dotted with beautiful lakes, golf courses, and recreational facilities. The township boasts an excellent school system, outstanding police department, and dedicated volunteer rescue squad and fire organization.

Municipal Offices Hours

The Township municipal office hours are Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Check each department's hours of operation. Not all departments are staffed daily. Some employees participate in shared services agreements with other townships. Other departments are open on a part-time basis.

Municipal Notices


The provider for the Reverse 911 system has changed from CodeRed to Swift911. Previously submitted phone and/or contact information to receive reverse 911s' will not transfer over from vendor to vendor. Therefore it will be necessary to register your cell phones, emails, or even your landline phones if it is Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP). Even if you have a landline phone through Verizon or Centurylink it is suggested to regisister. Register on the Andover Police website or click here to register.

County and Municipal Sewer Area Maps Posted

The document for submittal to the DEP of the Sussex County Wastewater Management Plan is being prepared. Existing and Future Sewer Service Area Maps are posted on the Sussex County website. The draft County Wastewater management Plan will be on the agenda of the County Quality Policy Advisory Committee on April 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Sustainable Andover

Sustainable Jersey is a statewide certification program for municipalities that want to go green, save money, and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term.  Andover Township has joined this initiative and formed a Green Team comprised of volunteer community members.  Based on the team’s efforts and a long history of environmental best practices by our township’s administrators, employees, resident,s and volunteers, Andover Township has recently earned a Bronze level certification through Sustainable Jersey.  We are looking for more members to help us continue our township-wide initiatives that help create a more environmentally sustainable community for all of our residents to enjoy.  If interested, please contact Eric Olsen at

Change for Brush Pickup

Brush will now be picked up ONLY during the months of October AND April. Leaf collection remains the same. Only the month of November and must be placed at the curb in Biodegradable bags. See updated newsletter.

Operation Santa

Tuesday, December 15, Wednesday the 16th, and Thursday the 17th between 6 and 9 PM
The Andover Township Volunteer Fire Department will be chauffeuring Santa again this year to deliver Christmas presents. A $10 donation is requested from each family who would like Santa to deliver their presents. Please wrap a small gift with your child’s name and address attached securely on top for Santa to deliver to your child. 100% of all donations will be used towards necessary expenses and equipment. Attention Senior Citizens

The Greater Andover Senior Citizens are actively seeking new members. You must be 55 years of age or older. The Group meets on the first and third Monday of each month at the Senior Center on Route 517 S. in Andover Borough. Monthly trips and other activities such as in-house entertainment, catered luncheons, bingo and guest speakers are scheduled throughout the year. For information call Lois McCue at 973-383-3783. Low Energy Assistance Program

The Department of Community Affairs recently announced that supplemental benefits are available through the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Eligible households do not need to reapply for the program to receive supplemental benefits. The benefits are available because LIHEAP funding for the year increased beyond the original projection provided by the federal government. read more
